The author talks of stalking Deer & Stag of Capercaile taken in Bavaria, Hunting Wild Boar in the Black Forest with details of Poachers & measures taken to Thwart them. The author then travels to Tuscany, gives an account of an eruption of Vesuvius before heading to France. Here, on the Franco German border he tells of more hunting as well as the arriveal of the Prussian Army & the siege of Rastadt. The last chapter deals with a journey from Baden to Moscow via Warsaw, Coursing & Snipe shooting, and the retgurn trip via Denmark & Hamburg. The author [ 1804 - 1865 ] was the son of the 3rd Viscount Bollingbrooke.
