Cloth gilt, G+. viii+244pp, chromolithographic frontis [ bound in at page 158 ] & 3 chromolithographic plates, binding shakedn & several gathers are slightly proud from the rest - but all are holding well, cloth rubbed at the edges with a 3 inch split at the head of the spine, rear hinge splitting at the pastedown, small strip removed from the head of the title [ to remove a previous owners name?] over all a good copy. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ Account of a tour through Eastern Europe in to hunt. The author talks of stalking Deer & Stag of Capercaile taken in Bavaria, Hunting Wild Boar in the Black Forest with details of Poachers & measures taken to Thwart them. The author then travels to Tuscany, gives an account of an eruption of Vesuvius before heading to France. Here, on the Franco German border he tells of more hunting as well as the arriveal of the Prussian Army & the siege of Rastadt. The last chapter deals with a journey from Baden to Moscow via Warsaw, Coursing & Snipe shooting, and the retgurn trip via Denmark & Hamburg. The author [ 1804 - 1865 ] was the son of the 3rd Viscount Bollingbrooke.
