Scarce guide. 12mo. contemporary sheep, untitled, 138[ii]pp. Title page in facsimile. James' Price's copy dated April 12th,1855 with copious ink notes in his hand to paste-downs and f.e.p. verso. Notes regard his ownership "Steal not this book for fear of shame..", and also, to the blank end matter, notes on the contemporary expenditure of the Russian Empire!! Lacks title page and any half-title (title page present in facsimile). First printed page is 'Preface'. Spine ends chipped, edges rubbed. Preliminaries and end-matter a little grubby but internally tight and clean, no loss, no annotations. A little foxed here and there. A series of descriptions of interesting and significant sights for the tourist, with a helpful appendix explaining the Bills of Mortality and the methods of punishment of seduction. Rare early 19th C./Regency guide to London.
