Dust-wrapper price-clipped. An early pre-war reprint. First published in 1938. Original script was broadcast by the B.B.C. Lloyd James was an active founder-member of the Advisory Committee on Spoken English (others included Daniel Jones and George Bernard Shaw) set up for the BBC by Lord Reith in 1926. One of his major contributions was 'Broadcast English, a set of seven handbooks published as an aid to pronunciation while speaking at the microphone.
