Description: London, Printed for Charles Adams and are to be sold at his shop, 1662. 12mo. (121 x 67 mm), [58]+227 pp. Sympathetically re-backed in gilt-ruled calf, cloth boards and new end-papers. Title within double-ruled border, lacks initial blank and A, leaves A3–5 mis-signed A2–4 (title-page should be A2): A 10(-A) a12 b6 B-K12 L6. Minor loss to t.p. leading corners, else tight and clean. Attributed to Paul Pellisson-Fontanier (1624–1693) born in Béziers, of a distinguished Calvinist family. He studied law at Toulouse and become secretary to Nicolas Fouquet. Later in life he became official historian to the king, and in that capacity wrote a fragmentary Histoire de Louis XIV. The present work is sometimes attributed to his brother Georges.
