Text in Japanese with English summaries. This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition in honor of the 1150th anniversary of Kobo-daishi's death. Kobo Daishi lived and worked in the 9th century and helped to establish Japanese Esoteric Buddhism at the Dain-ji Temple in Nara and the Mt. Makio in Osaka. He was a master calligrapher and many examples of his work are still extant. 274 objects in the exhibition plus other supporting material. All are illustrated here, 46 in color and 274 in black & white. 9" high X 10" wide, 300 pages. Scarce important catalog. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking. Very Good.
