Page 1 Is 'to the Christian Reader' with list of books of Old testament, Apocrypha and New testament on the verso. [Apochrypha not present in this edition] Genesis starts with misprint 'Chapter III' the garden of Eden, and a map .190pp, Second part Psalms etc, 127pp. New Testament has and engraved title page with heart shaped title in centre, another page written to 'the diligent reader' with map of the Holy Land n the verso, 121pp + a Table of the interpretation ... [18] , followed by The Book of Pslames [no date] with music . Notation 88pp + 4pp text. Foxing and spotting thoughout, front inner hinge exposed, handwritten comments in old hand on verso ffep, owner's name on endpaper, title page has been reinforced and repaired, lack rear endpaper, other engravings in the text. Genesis 3: 7 refers to breeches and this is one of those 'Breeches Bibles'. The first Official Church bible from 1568. Bound in frull leather, raised bands to spine, gilt deoration around cover edges and spine, rubbed around eges, and worn, with a black inset on front cover sayin SOLS JERUSALEM LODGE, and a sililar one on rear cover saing INSTITUTED APRIL 15th ; quarto.
