Title: A Treatise on Ghosts: Being the Psichologie, or Treatise Upon Apparitions and Spirits, of Disembodied Souls, Phantom Figures, Strange Prodigies, and of Other Miracles and Marvels, Which Often Presage the Death of Some Great Person, or Signify Some Swift Change in Public Affairs Written in French by the Learned Father Noel Taillepied, of the Order of Capuchins, and Now First Translated Into English, with an Introduction and Commentary by Montague Summers
Description: The Fortune Press, 1933. Hardcover. xviii, 263 pp. The Argument: There are verily and indeed Spirits and Phantoms which sometimes appear to men, and not unseldom we are confronted with marvellous and most unexpected super natural occurrences. The Spirits who appear are either Good Angels or bad, or the Souls of the Departed, who may give us timely warnings from God, by Whose Divine Permission only spirits are able to manifest themselves to us. Other portents and presages also may in God's mercy foretell some future event, so that we shall be the better prepared. It is good, therefore, to know how we must conduct ourselves upon these occasions, and what we may learn from them. All of which is debated and agreeably set forth in this Treatise. Cloth binding with rough cut edges. - blue with faded gilt to spine, pale patchiness to both fore edges and a little foxing to pastedowns and endpapers.Binding sound. Otherwise no marks or signatures.See scans . Good+
