This novel weaves a story around the sacking of Dalzell House near Motherwell by the Jacobite Army on retreat from Derby in 1745.The ancestral home (and castle) of the Hamiltons of Dalzell is houses a 15th century keep now enclosed by an 18th and 19th century mansion; it boasts a secret passage, a bottle dungeon and several ghosts. The house was plundered by the troops of Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745. (Prince Charles Edward Stuart). The 3rd Lord Hamilton sold the house and estate about 1953 and it is now split-up into private apartments. No less than three of Queen Victoria's children visited this place in the 19th century. 240p two plates. The book is in VG condition - all original with a gift inscription on the fep. Slight edge and corner wear but srtill at least VG. See scans. Size: 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾ tall . Very Good
