Blue quarter bound cloth. Rt. Hon. Thomas Hughes Jackson was born on 26 February 1834 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England. His racy narrative begins: In August 1855. my father thought it would be a good education for me to see the world.it was a kind proposal that I agreed to go on one condition, which was that he would let me travel as a gentleman and not limit my expenditure. To this he gladly asserted.and he gave me credit on the Commercial Bank of London for £2,000, with permission to extend if necessary. He traveled to South Africa, Ceylon, Hong Kong, Singapore, Melbourne, where he went gold mining in Ballarat, Sydney and Tasmania. Then Lima in Peru, Rosario and Buenos Ayres. Interesting tale. He was the son of Sir William Jackson, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Hughes. He married Hermine Meinertzhagen, daughter of Daniel Meinertzhagen and Amelia Huth, on 24 June 1862 at Marylebone, London, England.1 He died on 3 January 1930 at age 95 at Birkenhead, Cheshire, England.
