An amazing historical narrative of a sect whose leader, Elspeth Buchan, convinced her followers that in death she would arise again, if they had faith. One follower kept her body in his attic for 49 years in anticipation - but was dissapointed . A true story of South-West Scotland. Tight, clean and unmarked in original dark plum cloth boards with gilt titling on leather spine. Spine titling reads Train's History of the Buchanites .Bookplate of John Ofwald Mitchell on front pastedown - Mitchell authored a book on Burns (Burns and his Times 1897) and Old Glasgow Essays 1905. The Buchanites were known to Burns - he wrote a dispariging letter concerning them in 1784. Some rubbing alongside spine but still VG. See scans. . Very Good
