Brown Bros. of Galashiels 2)POLLUTION OF THE RIVER RUTHVEN - 2 dye factories plus Aucherarder sewage 3)POLLUTION OF THE RIVER ALLANDER - at the town of Milngavie the following works were found to be polluting the Allander - the Tambowsie Distillery; the Craighton Yarn-Bleach Works; the Clober Piece-Bleach Works; the Allander Bleach-Work or Laundry; the Ellangowan Paper Mill; the Allander Print Works; local Sewage outfalls; and Burnbrae Dye Work. 4)THE POLLUTION OF LOCH GOIL AND LOCH LONG - allegedly caused by several reasons - excess dredging of Glasgow Harbour and the Clyde, also Greenock Harbour, which were brought in barges to the southern end of Loch Long and deposited there; a weekly deposit of 150 tons of tank waste from an alkali works; the waters of the River Clyde bringing down the sewage of Glasgow; drainage from villages and country houses on the shore; soot settling from numerous steamboats; and cinder and other refuse from these steamboats. There is much detail in each report, as well as tables of samples taken and the results of scientific analysis of them, as well as Fletcher's recommendations in each case.
