Author: Greene, Graham Title: Stamboul Train
Description: London, United Kingdom, William Heinemann Ltd. 1932, First Edition, Second State. Hardcover. Book, A square solid tight carefully read copy. This copy hinge is split between two FFEPs, age tanning to the text block edges, light foxing to the top edge of the text block. Even with no jacket the black boards and gold spine lettering could not have looked much when the book was printed. A nudge to the heel and the top of the spine which has resulted in a short split in the binding material. First edition second issue. Because of a J.B. Priestley threat the first printing was withdrawn because he objected to the name "Q. C. Savory" so the some of these were changed to Quinn Savory on pages 77, 78, 82, 98, and 131 but were left unchanged on pages 134, 136, 142, 144, and 165. The use of Chaucer is still used on pages 81-82 not changed to Dickens and the use of a colon at the bottom of page 140 is still present. FYI. If this type of stuff means anything to you as a buyer This copy comes from the library of Vincent Starrett and has his Sherlock Holmes bookplate tipped to the reverse of the front board and his signature neatly to the top edge of the half-title page. THIS COPY IS IN MY POSSESSION AND NORMALLY SHIPS NEXT DAY. Very Good +/Missing.
