Title: Supplement to A Wheel around the Hub: the first organized bicycle ride by a group of 40 wheel cyclists in the Boston area..
Description: Raymond, ME, Privately printed by Knight, (2000). VG PB. In the fall of 2000, a booklet was printed which contained a remarkable acccount of a ride by a group of forty High Wheel. bicycle enthusiasts on a two-day journey starting in the city of Boston to circumnavigate the city through local towns and commuunities before returning to Boston. This account had been reported in the Februrary 1980 issue of the Scribner's Monthly Magazine of the epic journey of Sepembee 11 & 12, 1879 in the very infancy of travel by this form of vehicle. Within a few days of printing of the booklet a set of 22 pages of additional information concerning the facts and persons of this ride, written five years earlier which could have been better included was uncovered, of such interest and importance to the story of the ride that a supplementary booklet is considered warranted to meke the matter more complete. S. Michael Wells has never been located or otherwise identified for accreditation or honors but interested riders of the legendary "High W=heel" bicycle will have access to now avaiblable details. Herein is a supplement by West to the booklet by Ernie Knight. There are 52 primary sources.
