Martin Mills, a. long lived enterprise run by 5 generations of Martins almost continuously since its beginnnings in 1765. Originally the mills produced timbers, boards, and shingles needed by the earliest eesttlers to erect their dwellings and outbuildings since its beginnings in 1765. The mills also ground the grains grown on neighboring farms. After the civil War, the Martin Mills began roducing wooden pails and in so doing, figured prominently in an ermerging industry that flourished in the Mondadnock Region for the next half-century.
