Among the pioneers moving northward to the Province of Maine. in the mid-1700s was Captain Benjamin Kimball who sailed his boat into a cove at the north end of Long Pond in the spring of 1768. So begins the settlement of "Bridges' Town" derived from one Moody Bridges who 3 years before secured the grant of 60 square mile from the Massachusetts Legislature. Here is a huge store of fact and legend about their town with population of about 3,000, located ina growing recreational area. Book somewhat loose in binding, DJ edge worn esp at top.
