Patterned cloth on both ends of inset, silk on back side, first page is listing of 53-post stations of the Tokaido Highway. followed by a color miniature color pictorial with text Kakegawa and English writing: "A Buddhist pries and his disciple cross the cantilevered bridge over the Kakeriver. A passerby and his wife bow before the holy man. The child seems to be too upset over the loss of his kite - flying off to the right - to be concerned with politeness." Only sample of 53. 53 stations ran from Edo to Kyoto and provide food and lodging to travelers. Beautiful illustrations and sayings by great master of Japanese landscape prints.
