Most are from Beck Engraving Company showing prominent buildings from various colleges - Firestone Library, Princeton. Williamsburg's Governor's Palace. There is a full page writeup on Harkness Tower of Yale University which was originally known as "the Collegiate School" of the New Haven Colony whose beginnings date back to 1648 which in accordance with the custom of the times was started in the parsonage of its first rector Rev. Abraham Pierson who resided in Killingworth where the first scholar enrolled in March 1702. On the death of Rector Pierson the school was moved to Saybrook and in 1716 to New Haven. The citizens of Saybrook wished to retain the school however, locked up the books and refused to turn them over to the citizens of New Haven who finally prevailed. There is also a full page writeup on Firestone Memorial Library of Princeton University, the fourth college to be established in N. American soil, founded on Octboer 22, 1746, when the first charter was granted. Officially known as the College of New Jersey until 1896 when the name was changed to Princeton and affectionately called "Old Nassau". The charter guaranteed religious freedome to all students.
