His current art is a synthesis. of painterly abstraction in the style of Willem de Kooning and Hans Hofmann and of the classic tradition where the artist consciously controls space, color, and composition. A careful examination of a Lloyd painting reveals an infinite space within which color and shape move in many directions, creating a tension barely held by the borders of the composition.
