Charles Wesley began his ministry at Frederica around 1736 serving as Secretary for Indian Affairs & Chaplain to Gen. James. Oglethorpe. After 30 years he and his brother John returned to England in 1766. Followiing the Revolutionary War, the descendants of early settlers petitioned for a charter and the congregation was incorporated by act of the State Legislature on 12/22/1808 and the congregation worshipped there until the outbreak of the Civil War. The church has intricate stained glass windows which are reproduced here to highlight each chapter. Owner inscription.
