Libby in the Maine Historical Society library, the history of the Cumberland and Oxford Canal, records of the Trustees from 1899 to 1957, etc. Photos of some of the founders, a beautiful shot of the Chapel on a winter's night. 200 years ago the whole region around where Bridgton Academy now stands was a wilderness. No white man lived here. The nearest stettlements were on the coast or close to it and they were open to frequent and frightful attacks from Indians.
