The Wylies were exiled socially and remained in England until WWI forced them to return to the U.S. As this marriage faded, William Rose Benet helped her career and then they married. People soon realized she was mad, bad, and dangerous to know esp if they had husbands at risk. Today her poems and books area litle read. Olson when to Europe to search out archives and those who had known her and discovered Elinor had a fatal effect on many of the lives she touched - suicides, misadventures and tragedies.
