Himself a product of polygamy, Clawson married in 1882, 1883 & enteredinto a post-Manifesto union in 1904. His memoirs show the pride Mormon polygamists felt at being "prisoners for conscience sake" and include discussions of Mormon doctrines, accounts of daring prison escapes, details of prison life & a husband's sense of frustration at being separated from his plural wife.
