The manuscript play The Warde was preserved in. the Bodleian Library designated a tragicomedy & dated 9/16/1637. Mitchells calls the play of little literary importance but its interest lies in the fact ath it seems to be largely autobiographical & fairly representative of amateur dramatic compositions from 3rd & 4th decades of 17th century by young gentlemen attached to the court or at the Inns of Court. The Neales of Hampshire were an elizabethan family of some wealth & distinction.
