Author: Flower Society, History of the Garden by Howard O. Stiles, Title: A Guide to the Will C. Curtis Garden in the Woods: a botanical collection.
Description: Framingham, MA, Garden in the Wood, (1976). VG PB. The Garden in the Woods was begun in 1930 when Curtis saw the land & realized how well its many natural flowers would adapt. to a large naturalist garden. He bought it and in 1931 development began. First a little cabin was built with a greenhouse attached, garden areas were designed & cleared, the Lily Pond was dug, deepened & planted. Connecting paths evolved by degrees & planting took place gradually. Today the Garden in the Woods is a spring wonderland of wild flowers dominated by a high shade canopy of hardwoods. There are approx. 4000 species, varieties & forms of plant material growing within the 48 acres of the Garden. Emphasis is on N. Amer. material esp. albino & double flowering forms with a number of Asiatic counterparts. Owner notes fep.
