Bound in mottled grey cloth, gilt titling to the spine. This copy is in very good condition (some light rubbing of the boards). Several of the pre-WW2 Shell Guides can be found in this grey cloth binding, and opinion is divided as to why the books were bound up this way. The most convincing suggestion I have heard is that they were used as publisher's rep's samples. This book is in a slightly larger format than the more commonly seen softcover issue, which measures 23cm by 18cm.
