Second edition (hardback), limited to 1000 copies, of which this is copy number 893. 4to (38cm by 29cm), xiv, 428pp. 9 photogravure plates, text illustrations. Finely bound in full red morocco, gilt titling to the front board and the spine, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. The binding is lightly rubbed, there is some light scuffing to the extremities of the binding, and the endpapers are lightly foxed, but the binding is bright, and the contents are clean and tightly bound. Overall, this copy is in good to very good condition. The book is undated; COPAC estimates a publication date of 1939. There was an earlier edition of this book, which was published in 1913. This second edition is revised and expanded (the first edition had just 359 pages).
