Title: Descrizione di Gerusalemme del Visconte Chateaubriand, pari di Francia.
Description: Firenze: Par Niccolo Conti, 1824. Seconda Edizione, corredata di Rami (hardback). 8vo (21cm x 13cm), 285pp. Portrait frontispiece, 5 coloured plates. Bound in brown cloth, title label to the spine. The upper joint is frayed (and repaired), and there is some scattered foxing of the contents. Overall, this copy is in good condition. Text in Italian. Chateaubriand's travels from Paris to Jerusalem and back were published in three volumes in 1811-12; this Italian-language edition is only in one volume, and contains a description of Jerusalem only, extracted from the full work. This edition is of particular interest for the five colour plates, which do not appear to have bene included in the French or English editions. The titles of the plates are: Veduta di Gerusalemme par la Corta dei Pellegrini; Interno della Chiesa del Santa Sepolero; Ramo dell; Albero; Ali-Aga, Governatore di Jerico; Giovane della Valle di Giosefatte (one view, one interior view, one drawing of a branch of a tree, and two portraits).
