First edition (hardback). 8vo, xii, 193pp, cccxxx. 8 tinted lithographic plates by Henry Alken (correct as per list), 3 text illustrations. Publisher's blindstamped green cloth, gilt titling to the spine. Some light rubbing and marking of the boards, inner hinges strained (and repaired), plates foxed. Overall, this copy is in good condition. A 3pp subscribers list is loosely inserted. This was one of only two editions (the other being the second edition of 1842) to include the lengthy stud book, which has a separate half-title "A Kennel stud book, shewing the pedigrees of many of the most celebrated packs of fox-hounds in England, 1840"
