First edition, complete in two volumes bound in one (hardback). 12mo, title, dedication leaf, 288pp; title, dedication leaf, 245pp, 21pp index. Engraved frontispiece to volume 1. Recently attractively rebound in half brown morocco, marbled boards, gilt spine. The frontispiece and title page of volume 1 have been professionally relaid, the final text page of volume 1 (pp 287/288) is chipped at the edges, there is some mile spotting of the contents, and the preliminary pages show some professional restoration. Overall, this copy is in good to very good condition.
