Description: London: Hurst and Blackett, 1903. First edition (hardback). 8vo, xxiii, 371pp. 16 colour plates, 7 maps (mostly folding), numerous text illustrations - all correct as per list. Original green cloth, gilt titling to the front board and the spine. This copy is only in fair condition - the binding is somewhat shaken, the inner hinges are repaired with tape, the extremities of the binding are frayed, there is a bookplate to the front pastedown and a couple of the plates have chipped margins. On the plus side, the book is complete and the contents are clean.
