Description: London: printed for Harding, Mavor and Lepard, 1823, 1824, 1825, 1826, 1827, 1828. Volumes 1-6 inclusive (hardbacks). Each volume is quarto (28cm by 20cm), and has 20 engraved portrait plates (a total of 120 plates in all). Each plate is accompanied by several pages of text (the text is separately paginated for each plate). The six volumes are uniformly bound in plain brown cloth, green morocco title labels to the spines with gilt titling. There is some light sunning of the bindings and light fraying or bumping of the extremities, the contents of volume 5 and 6 are shaken, and the endpapers are lightly foxed. The contents and the plates are generally in very good condition, making this a good plus set overall. This work was also issued in parts, and each of these volumes contains four parts, ie this set is made up of parts 1 to 24 inclusive.
