Title: Maize Turns to Gold

Timmins, [1948]). . 8vo; original pale grey cloth, lettered in black on spine and upper cover; pictorial dustwrapper, housed in removable protector; endpaper map; pp. 187; plates. 'The author was for many years the Mining Editor of the Johannesburg Star, and in this book he tells the story of Odendaalsrust and the Free State gold mines. The book should prove of more than ordinary interest to those interested not only in shares but in the future of South Africa, because, as Mr. Carleton Jones states in his preface: "The book presents a chronicle of one of the most astonishing episodes in South Africa's rich story of gold-mining enterprises, and in addition an effort has been made to set Free State developments in what is perhaps their true perspective." '.
