Title: The Channel Islands of California. A Book for the Angler, Sportsman, and Tourist.
Description: Chicago. A. C. McClurg & Co. 1910. Second Edition (September 1910; the first in May 1910). Octavo (8 x 6). 397 pp. including appendix, index. Photo frontispiece showing Avalon and Avalon Bay on Santa Catalina Island. There’s a flock of black and white plates showing the natural resources of the islands, particularly fish species available to the angler and the opportunities to catch them; there’s plates highlighting catches made by members of the Tuna Club. There’s chapters devoted to the birds on the islands, hunting goats, tuna fishing with a chapter devoted to the Tuna Club and its member, and the haunting tale of the Lost Woman on San Nicolas. The book is bound in the original light blue cloth with black titles and black flying fish on the spine and front cover. The spine is lightly faded, former owner’s armorial book plate and inscription on the fly leaf. A very good book.
