Title: Alison’s Fishing Birds. {Limited Edition Signed with Two Additional Hand-Colored Plates Laid-in}.
Description: Vancouver, British Columbia. Colophon Books. 1980. Quarto (10 1/2 x 7 1/4). 40 pp. Limited Edition (second state binding). Book number 146 of 375 copies published. Signed by Valerie Haig-Brown at the conclusion of her Preface and also signed by the binder (Courtland Benson) on the colophon page. A hand colored Kingfisher drawn by Jim Rimmer as frontispiece, tipped-in on the title page and signed by him. In this book there are two additional Jim Rimmer hand colored Kingfishers laid-in. Hand-colored chapter headings showing the five bird species encountered by Alison - the Dipper - Kingfisher - Heron - Mergansers - Osprey. Text illustrations showing Alison with the five birds. This is the second state binding in green cloth with 22 copies published in 1998. The text sheets in this book were originally printed in 1980 by the Twin Doves Bindery in Victoria, B. C.; not all the sheets were bound in grey cloth at that time. The binder retained possession of 22 copies of the unbound sheets and in 1998 bound them in green cloth with gilt titles on the spine. One more thing. The binder misspelled "Alison’s" on the book’s spine as "Allison’s". The book is bound in green cloth with gilt titles on the spine and a blind-stamped Osprey on the front cover. A nice book. Fine. Signed by Author and Illustrator.
