Title: Dry Line Steelhead and Other Subjects. {With a Steelhead Fly Dressed by Bill McMillan}
Description: Portland, Oregon. Frank Amato Publications. 1987. First Edition. Quarto (11 x 9). 144 pp. Laid-in is Bill McMillan’s "Steelhead Caddis" fly, dressed by him on a size 4 low water hook in 1982. Also included is a "Muddler Minnow" fly, dressed on a size 6 long-shank hook by Mark Noble, also in 1982. Mark Noble and Bill McMillan operated The Greased Line Fly Shoppe in Vancouver, Washington, in the mid-1970s and into the 80s. There is yet another fly included, it’s a "Winter’s Hope," a fly created by Bill McMillan and dressed on a size 4 hook by a close friend of the previous owner of this book (who was a Fly Shoppe employee), mounted on the title page. There are eight color plates showing steelhead flies, fish, and beautiful scenery along Northwest rivers. Photos and maps. Text illustrations. Graphs and charts. A pioneering book on this magnificent fish. The book is bound in colorful pictorial wrappers with magenta titles. A very good book with light edge wear. The flies are in fine condition.
