Title: Golden Days: From the Fishing Log of a Painter in Brittany.
Description: First Edition. London. A. & C. Black, Ltd. 1919. First Edition. Octavo (7 ½ x 5 ½). 233 pp. including index. Illustrated frontispiece showing Jean Pierre drawn by S. Curnow Vosper. A haunting, lyrical, and beautifully written book of trout and salmon fishing in Brittany before and after the first world war by Romilly Fedden, an English writer, painter, and watercolourist. Writing in 1918, "To-day I have fished again in France! Oh! but that sunlit hour was wonderful! Only those who have endured these weary times will fully understand - to find forgetfulness!". So begins Fedden’s Prologue to discoveries and adventures with his dear friend and companion, Jean Pierre and their fishing together in Brittany. Sadly, Jean Pierre was killed during the war. Fedden’s angling book is the preeminent source which explains why folks fly fish; there's none better. With the book plate of writer and conservationist, Keith Cushman Russell. The book is bound in the original blue cloth with gilt titles and decorations on the spine and front cover. The spine has faded to tan and its titles to blue. A good book.
