With sixteen exquisitely drawn plates of salmon and anglers by Charles De Feo. Return to the River is the touch-stone biography of Spring, a Chinook salmon, from her birth and ensuing years traveling in the Pacific, then her return to the home river of birth to spawn. The book is bound in quarter red morocco spine with gilt titles and gray cloth. Top edge gilt. A fine book, with the always present lightly discolored paste downs resulting from the binder's glue. This book has a fine two-part custom slipcase with gilt titles on the spine and the inside lined with bright foil paper with gold leaves over a red background, symbolizing Spring’s return in the fall. The slip case case was designed and made by Gwen Kushner of Campbell River. Signed by Author and Illustrator.
