Title: Bibliotheca Piscatoria. A Catalogue of Books on Angling, the Fisheries and Fish-Culture, with Bibliographical Notes and an Appendix of Citations Touching on Angling and Fishing from Old English Authors..
Description: London. W. Satchell, 19, Tavistock Street, Covent Garden. 1883. First Edition. Octavo (8 x 6). xxiv, 397 pp. including index. By a country mile, the finest United Kingdom angling bibliography published; written by two of the best fishing and angling bibliographers, Thomas Westwood and Thomas Satchell, who exhaustively included nearly all U. K. (and some U.S.) fishing titles, books on fisheries, and works on fish culture. The entries are described with an intimate knowledge of the subject matter, the descriptions are graced with wit and charm, and occasionally, a good dose of skepticism. If you have this book along with Bruns’ Angling Books of the Americas, you've pretty much nailed it. Recommended for folks with an interest in the history of angling and its related fields, and who appreciate exemplary, meticulous research. The book is bound in its original black cloth with gilt titles on the spine. Top edge gilt. Just a touch of edge wear to the cloth, small remnant of a label on the verso of the front end paper, otherwise a very good book.
