Title: A Guide to The Haig-Brown Fishing Tackle Collection. {The Original Limited Printing of 50 Copies Signed by Van Egan and with a Fly Dressed by Art Lingren in a Custom Presentation}.
Description: Campbell River, British Columbia. January 1978. Quarto (11 x 8). 17 pp. Book number 40 of 50 copies issued for private distribution. Signed and inscribed by Van Egan to Ron Schiefke in the year of issue. Mr. Schiefke was a friend of Van’s and office holding member of the Totem Flyfishers and Secretary of the B. C. Federation of Fly Fishers. The book has a mounted fly, Van Egan’s "Fry Fly", dressed by Art Lingren on a size 4 hook; it’s signed by him under the fly. The book has two essays written by Van - "Why Preserve It?" plus "Haig-Brown and Fishing Tackle." The list includes detailed descriptions of rods (there are 28), Reels and Lines, Flies and Fly Boxes, Baits and Bait Boxes, Leader Boxes, Fishing Vests, Staffs, Nets Etc, Line Dryers, Miscellaneous, and Storage Boxes. The book is bound in green cloth with gilt titles on the spine and a printed label on the front cover. Matching green cloth slip case. Both were hand-made by Gwen Kushner of Campbell River. A fine, unique example of this severely scarce publication.
