Author: RUSSELL CHATHAM. Title: Dark Waters: Essays, Stories and Articles.
Description: Livingston, Montana. Clark City Press. 1988. First edition. Octavo (9 x 7). 208 pp. Illustrated by the author. Foreword by Nick Lyons. With a tipped-in color print showing a Silver Salmon illustrated by Chatham on the title page. Compelling stories by a master writer, with an especially sensitive piece on Roderick Haig-Brown. Not to be missed is Russ’ essay "The Great Duck Misunderstanding," which highlights the cooking of wild ducks, prepared with exquisite care, basted in butter, and roasted in a 500 degree oven for twenty minutes; the feast that follows, and it’s interspersed with Russ’ description of an enchanting woman with dark hair, a voluptuous figure, and who is mesmerizing in bed. With Russell’s death in November 2019, the West Coast voice of Steelhead and Salmon preservation expressed through his writings, is at an end. The book is bound in white wrappers with green titles. Pictorial dust jacket. A nice book. Fine in a fine dust jacket.
