Pool and Rapid is Haig-Brown's account of the people who knew and loved the Tashish, set against the "progress" of the engineers and geologists who viewed the river as a cheap source of power to the sawmills; events characterized during Haig-Brown's time spent near the Nimpkish River on Vancouver Island as a young man. The book is bound in a fine binding of green morocco spine and corners with gilt titles and gilt decorations interspersed between raised bands on the spine; marbled boards. Bright, clean, and in fine condition.
