Wes Drain fished the Stillaguamish River extensively beginning in the 1940s and captured the Washington State record fly-caught steelhead, a twenty-pound, seven ounce fish during the 1947-48 season on his own fly creation, Drain’s 20, one of first flies to utilize fluorescent materials. Laid-in is a size 6 Skunk fly created by Wes Drain and dressed by the late Alec Jackson (West Riding Press) of Kenmore, Washington. Wes Drain was an early pioneer fishing dry flies for steelhead, and was a close friend of Mike Kennedy, who is featured in one of the enclosed photos. The two volumes are bound in their original bright red cloth with gilt titles on the spines and front covers. A nice, bright, clean set. Fine with just a touch of edge wear to the cloth.
