This is a critical examination of Izaak Walton's and Charles Cotton's book, The Compleat Angler, first published in 1653. Mr. Paxman places Izaak Walton's contribution clearly within the realm of a plagiarist who had little regard for fishing etiquette and customs. Charles Cotton's contribution to fly fishing in the fifth edition of the book is generally held in high esteem because of its originality and because of its thoughtful examination of the angler's role streamside. The book is bound in green morocco spine with gilt titles and marbled boards. Green drop-back box lined with light green silk moiré cloth. A beautiful book. Fine in a fine box.
