Title: The Silent Murders.
Description: New York, A.L. Burt, New York. Reprint. Hard Cover. 294 pp, small 8vo, (7 5/8" H) - no dust jacket. (Copyright 1929, Doubleday Doran.) "Very little attention was aroused by the murder of an elderly tramp on the road between King's Langley and Berkhampstead. Tramps have few relatives to mourn them and few legatees to be interested. The man was found in a ditch, crumpled up as if dead-tired or dead drunk. He was neither. He had been stabbed between the shoulders and must have died almost at once. A square of cardboard was tied to the last surviving button on the tramp's ragged overcoat and on the square was written the word 'Three'." Interior - previous owners name on front pastedown, otherwise clean and tight with no other ownership marks. Exterior - corners to front cover slightly bumped, very light soiling to boards, very small shallow bumps to top edge of rear board, light wrinkling to top/bottom of spine, scattered foxing to edges of textblock. Good+.

Keywords: Crime, Murder, Detectives, Inspector Dewar, Scotland Yard.
