His motives and actions are misinterpreted by a local planter and a visiting journalist who use his reputation to enhance their situations, ultimately undoing the 'cure' that the mission doctor sees taking place and ending in tragedy. Previous owner's name stamp on front and rear pastedowns, minor scuff across fore-edge of text block, minor soiling on top of text block, small water stain at top of rear board. Dust jacket has browning to spine - a little lighter on flap-folds and top edge, some light wear a some tiny chips at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds, several light water stains on rear flap-fold and one at top edge of rear panel. Very Good -/Good.
