Description: Hamilton, Primavera Press. 1972, First Edition. Hard Cover with dust jacket. 359 pp, 9" H. Inscribed on title page: "Best Wishes / Helen E. Britton". "Set in Eastern Ontario, the story has a prologue set in the atmosphere of a village at a time just before the First World War and opens in a town, Rossac, on the St. Lawrence River, following the interlinking lives of characters from the end of the Second World War through the 1950s and into the 'new morality' of the late 1960s and the present decade (1970s). Idyllic love stories, loneliness, the machinations of frustrated passions, the violence and tragedies of a sex-drug culture, all enter into the story; and at its hub is a crippled physician-philosopher who is both observer and counselor to the characters." Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown, front board slightly curved, two very light soiling marks on top of tex block and one on bottom of text block, tiny bump at top of spine, minor fading at top/bottom edge of spine. Dust jacket has light edge wear and very light edge wrinkling, light rubbing on rear panel and on spine, light fading to spine color and top 1 1/2' of rear panel, one tiny edge tear. Very Good/Very Good-. Inscribed By Author.
