Title: Digital Data: Their Derivation and Reduction for Analysis and Process Control.
Description: London, Hilger & Watts. 1961. Hard Cover with dust jacket. 82 pp, 7 1/2" H. B&w photographs, diagrams. "(Provides) an insight into the use of data-handling equipment. Development in the field of data handling is rapid and I have as far as possible chosen instruments and systems that are either in production or have been made in prototype form, but even they are likely to change in detail as techniques and improvements suggest themselves with use and experience. I have therefore given only enough detail to provide a basic understanding of the construction and use of the units and systems. Furthermore, I have limited the scope of this book to shaft-driven digital devices with which I have had most experience. There are of course many other basically similar developments, particularly in the U.S.A. and there are a variety of purely electronic analogue-to-digital converters. To describe these would be an enormous task and would probably be confusing to anyone attempting to grasp the principals of digital instrumentation for the first time." From the Preface. Contents: Incremental Scales; Digital Counting Devices; Direct Reading from Coded Scales; Ancillary Equipment; System Arrangements and Applications; Bibliography; Index. Slight yellowing of pastedowns near hinge, previous owner's name in ink on free front endpaper. Dust jacket has a few tiny edge chips and one very small tear archivally taped, light rubbing/soiling - mainly on rear panel, very light browning on spine and flap-folds, rubbing/scuffing on spine - the word "Data" is partially erased. Very Good/Good.
