Roosevelt in 1934; an account of a naval exercise in the Mediterranean si m u l a t i n g t he reinforcement of Singapore in the event of war with Japan; and a contingency plan for forcing the Dardenelles in the event of war with Turkey over the Mosul question. There are discussions of the writing of the official histor ie s of t he w ar , l et ters from a former Austrian naval officer on Adriatic matters and, of course, lots of revealing comments on the personalities (and feuds) of leaders of the time: Churchill, Trenchard, Beatty, Jellicoe, Chatfield and others .
