The vast majority of copies that I have come across of the years are reprints, as are most of the copies offered by many dealers as "1st editions". I have assisted with & written several articles on identification of Biggles 1st editions and have considerable authority on the topic . This copy has an unclipped jacket which has edge wear, glue stains to the obverse of the jacket which have bled through and a faint pencil mark that looks like 8/- (Decimal currency in Australia was 1966). There is page toning through the book and a library stamp and sticker to the front free endpaper. Tiny edge tear to rear endpaper. These are later additions with a modern bar code and an accession date of 1988, decades after the original printing.There are tape marks to the pastedowns. There is no SBN in the book. Jacket lists to Biggles Flies to work on the rear panel. There is no price in new pence. SBN in the book and price in new pence on the jacket are pointers to a later printing but the key point to a 1st edition is the hidden date. Jacket is in a new loose protective sleeve Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Very good-/Good.
