Als Verfasser dieser anonym veröffentlichten satirischen Schrift über die Herzogin von Marlborough, bisweilen Swift zugeschrieben, gilt nun der Arzt William Wagstaffe (1685-1725). Die Erstausgabe erschien im selben Jahr; um welche der folgenden Ausgaben des Jahres 1712 es sich bei dem vorliegenden Druck handelt, ist nicht mit Bestimmtheit festzustellen. - Twentieth-century cloth, gilt title on spine. Browned, first leaf repaired in inner margin. A satire on the Duchess of Marlborough, first published earlier in 1712. About Mother Haggy (Frances Jennings), her daughter Haggite (Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough), and the latter's husband Avaro (John, 1st Duke of Marlborough). It is now attributed to the physician William Wagstaffe (1685-1725). Teerink included it amongst Swift's doubtful works (no. 861). In a letter to Stella on 22nd February 1712 Swift wrote: "Lady Masham made me read to her a pretty 2 penny Pamphlet called the St Albans Ghost. I thought I had writt it myself; so did they, but I did not". - "Sarah Churchill, geborene Jenyns, von 1689 bis 1702 bekannt als Countess of Marlborough, danach als Duchess of Marlborough (geboren 29. Mai 1660 in Sandridge, Hertfordshire, England; gestorben 18. Oktober 1744 in Marlborough House, London), war eine Jugendfreundin und enge Vertraute der Königin Anne und die Ehefrau von John Churchill, 1.
